AYLL Field Maintenance Day
by posted 04/18/2014

Hello Baseball and Softball Parents,

AYLL is having our Field Maintenance Day tomorrow, Saturday, April 19th and we need your help!  We are meeting at Williams Park at 8am and are looking for volunteers to come out and help care for the fields our kids will be playing on.  The forecast looks like it's going to be a beautiful day, so what a great opportunity to get some fresh air, get a little exercise, meet other members of the AYLL family and learn a few baseball/softball field maintenance skills!

Please bring rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, gloves and come for an hour, half day or all day – any and all help is appreciated.

We would like to get a headcount on the number of volunteers – if you can make it; please email Bob Klemm with how many people and what timeframes you will be available at  .

Thanks,

Bob Klemm

AYLL: LAST WEEK TO REGISTER FOR 2013 FALL BASEBALL / SOFTBALL
by posted 07/25/2013

Hello Baseball and Softball Families!

This is your final opportunity to register for AYLL - Antioch Baseball and Softball's 2013 Fall Season.

FALL BASEBALL / SOFTBALL REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 31st.  Please go to www.AYLL.com and click on REGISTRATION to get started!

AYLL is offering both Fall Baseball and Softball in the following age groups:

Pinto (7/8)
Mustang (9/10)
Bronco (11/12)
Pony (13/14)

Your child should register in the league that they will be playing in for the Spring, 2014 Season.  Fall Ball is an excellent opportunity for players to "play up" at the league that they will be in the Spring and get a jumpstart on their skills at the next level.  Returning second year players have a fantastic opportunity to reinforce the fundamentals learned during the regular season to further prepare for next year.

Both Fall Baseball and Softball are multi-community leagues.  Games will be played on Saturday with an occasional Sunday for rainouts or as schedules may require.  Practices are at the discretion of the team's Manager.  Practices will begin early August with games beginning in late August through mid October.

We have very limited space available.  Some leagues are already in a waitlist status.  If you are interested in an age group that has a waitlist, PLEASE register.  AYLL will gladly field additional team(s) as registration numbers dictate.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of AYLL - Antioch Baseball and Softball!

AYLL FALL BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL REGISTRATION OPENS JULY 1st
by posted 06/28/2013

Hello Baseball and Softball Parents,

AYLL - Antioch Baseball and Softball online registration for the 2013 Fall Baseball and Softball Season will open July 1st!!!

To get started, please click on the following link
http://www.ayll.com and click on REGISTER NOW to secure your child’s spot on a team!

Unless you volunteer to be a Manager/Coach, no other forms will be required. Player registration will remain open for each Division through July 31, 2013, or until team rosters are full.  Once rosters fill for a given division, we will begin a waitlist and will form additional team(s) based on registration.

We will once again be offering a multi-community Fall Baseball program. The emphasis of Fall Baseball is on player development. We will divide up teams evenly based on player experience. It’s a great opportunity to get a head start, as players will be placed on a team based on the Division they will be participating in during the 2014 Spring Baseball Season!

The following divisions will be offered in Fall Baseball:

AA Baseball: 7/8 years old
AAA Baseball: 9/10 years old
Major Baseball: 11/12 years old
Pony Baseball: 13/14 years old

Again, you will register your child where they will play in the 2014 Spring Season.

Fall Baseball will run late August through mid-October with practices beginning in early August. Most games will be played on Saturday, with an occasional game on Sunday. Rainouts may be played on Sunday as well. Practices will be held throughout the week at the discretion of the team Manager.

We will again be exploring the opportunity to field Softball teams for the 2013 Fall Season; however, participation will be based on our ability to field teams in each Division.

Your best source for news and information is at
http://www.ayll.com or on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com. Please visit periodically for updates.

As a reminder, AYLL - Antioch Baseball and Softball has a no refund policy.

If you have any questions, please contact Rob Wieska, Fall Baseball/Softball Director, at  .

Softball pants to now be included in 2013 uniforms
by posted 02/06/2013

Hello Softball Parents!

AYLL - Antioch Baseball and Softball is pleased to announce that we have decided to add softball PANTS as part of the standard In-House Softball uniform for the 2013 Spring Season in the AA, AAA, and Major Softball Leagues. The Softball pants will replace the shorts that have been provided in previous seasons.

AYLL - Antioch Baseball and Softball has decided to move forward with the pants in response to overwhelming feedback indicating that the shorts are not ideal in the cooler weather that exists at the start of the season and more importantly that the shorts are not conducive to allowing the girls to slide comfortably while learning and playing the game.

AYLL - Antioch Baseball and Softball has been advised by our uniform vendor that the softball pants are sized the SAME as the shorts. What you previously chose during the registration process as a size for the shorts will be comparable in the pants. Should there be a sizing issue, we will have extra pants to exchange for a different size at uniform distribution.

We look forward to a fantastic 2013 Softball season!

Sincerely,

AYLL - Antioch Baseball and Softball

AYLL and MLB Pitch, Hit & Run
by AYLL posted 09/10/2012

In 2011, AYLL – Antioch Baseball and Softball hosted their first MLB® Pitch, Hit & Run™ Local competition to give players an opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting & running abilities.

Boys and girls, ages 7-14, compete separately for a chance to advance through all four levels [Local, Sectional, Team Championship (Regional), and National Finals] of the competition in separate divisions.

Ashlyn Sundell, an AYLL AA Softball player, competed in the Girls ages 7-8 group and set the bar for future participants by winning the All-Around Local competition; giving her the opportunity to compete in the Sectional competition in Barrington, IL, where she again won the All-Around, and advanced to the Team Championship (Regional) competition at Wrigley Field where she finished in 3rd Place!!!

“MLB® ran the Wrigley competition and it was top notch all the way.  Very classy!!  We were then treated to stay and watch that day’s game later in the afternoon,” said Carl Sundell, Ashlyn’s father.

In 2012, Jake Ferry and Mia Fogel continued the success of AYLL players in the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition.  Please click on the following link

AYLL - Antioch Baseball and Softball: 2012 Baseball Bat Rules!!!
by AYLL posted 01/15/2012

Hello Baseball Parents and Players,

For safety reasons, we have implemented new Baseball Bat Rules for the 2012 Spring Season. Please read below for details and the reasoning behind the changes of the Baseball Bat Rules:

What is BPF & BBCOR?

BPF stands for Bat Performance Factor. It is a measurement of how a ball “rebounds” off the bat, compared to a ball thrown at a stone wall. We are using a BPF of 1.15 in ages 14 & younger. All baseball bats for this age group must have the 1.15 BPF stamp (see image below). This means the bat has a “rebound” of 15% faster than a ball thrown at a stone wall.

BBCOR stands for Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution. Basically BBCOR measures how much energy the ball loses at contact with the bat. The NCAA & NFHS want metal & composite bats to perform more like wood bats, so they have adopted this standard.

BPF is associated with YOUTH BATS ONLY.  The BBCOR standard is for Adult (drop -3) bats ONLY.  The drop in the bat is the difference between the length and weight.  For example, when someone says they are looking for a drop -3, 32” length bat, you know the weight is 29 oz.  Over the past years bat manufacturers have developed bats that increased the risk for injury by making bats that increased their trampoline effect the more a player used the bat.  Batted baseballs would come off the bats at unsafe speeds.

Now for 2012, the bat rule changes aim at reducing the hit speed off a bat to a level that cannot be exceeded during the life of the bat.  Games in 2012 will have lower scores and batted ball injuries will be reduced.

Please note, if your child is playing In-House baseball, each In-House team within our league will have 1.15 BPF baseball bats available for your child to use.  Therefore, parents are not required to purchase a 1.15 BPF baseball bat for their child.  However, please follow the guidelines above and below if you choose to purchase a baseball bat for your child:

‘A’ Ball, AA Baseball, and AAA Baseball

The baseball bat shall not be more than thirty-three (33) inches in length nor more than two and one-quarter (2 1/4) inches in diameter. No drop restrictions.

Major Baseball

The baseball bat shall not be more than thirty-three (33) inches in length nor more than two and five-eights (2 5/8) inches in diameter. No drop restrictions.
